Federal Land Development Authority or Felda was formed on July 1, 1956 under the Land Development Ordinance (Land Development Ordinance) 1956. FELDA function provided for under the Act (Amendment 1991), are as follows
To conduct and implement land development projects
To develop, facilitate and implement the economic, social, agricultural, settlement, industrial and commercial developments, managements and services as well as other ancillary activities in areas where FELDA is authorized to undertake land development projects or territories owned by FELDA and its subsidiaries.
To carry out activities that can help to modernize the agricultural sector in areas where FELDA is authorized to administer it, especially in activities related to the production, processing and marketing of agricultural and livestock products.
To assist, guide, advise, manage and coordinate social, settlement, agricultural, industrial and commercial activities within FELDA territories.
